How To Eat Mantou (Square or
Cloud-like Steamed Buns)

foodies! I’m litte bit sad today but it won’t stop me from blogging about food,
snack to all of you. Hope you always be cheerful in every single day. Okay, let
me share to you about one of my favourite (you have read that this is my
favourite foods for other foods too several times). It means that I love eating many foods.
Ya,
today I will give you such a simple tips to eat your mantou (square steamed
buns). It’s similar with pao (steamed
buns) but there is no filling inside. So, you can it them with you favourite
jams, spreads, curry or you make mantou s sandwich. Mantou has white colour and
slightly sweet taste. When I was childhood, I bought mantou from a seller near
my house. The seller fried them in a medium pan until golden colour. I ate the
white-choco colour and sweet version.
Luckily, I could
find the plain flavour. I almost
cry to get them easily haha since it’s rare to
find. First, we need to melt
margarine/butter in a small saucepan. Then, roast mantou in the saucepan
when the colour turns to the golden brown, we must to do the same on other
side.
For dipping, I made something like a curry. We
just need to saute minced garlic, chillies, potato slices, minced chicken then
add water, salt, pepper, egg, soy sauce. Wait until it well-cooked. If you finish frying the mantou and make the
dippings, it’s done! You can dip your mantou into chicken curry-like dippings.
After dipping your mantou in the chicken curry, the taste of mantou is insanely amazing. It’s deliciously oily and
salty as well. I like the crispness of my mantous too.
I
like eating savoury foods, so it’s better than sweet version in my opinion.
It’s up to you either you add some jams
in the middle of your mantou or make curry as your dippings.
