Banana Chocolate and Cheese Pastry (Pisang Bolen)

Banana Chocolate and Cheese Pastry (Pisang Bolen)

Hello foodies! Are you banana lover? How do you eat your bananas? Do you like eating banana cake, pastry, fritters? If your answer is YES, we are in the same line haha. I love eating banana whether it's fried or steamed. Banana is sweet and nutritious fruit.

Banana is known as widely consumed fruit by people in the world. This fruit has a lot of health benefit for our body's health. It can help our digestive system and increase athletic performances too (1). What a great fruit!

Banana Chocolate and Cheese Pastry

Okay, back to the banana chocolate and cheese pastry, I got it from my daddy after gathering with neighbor. In Indonesia, this kind of pastry is well-known as Pisang Bolen. Pisang means banana, because the filling of Pisang Bolen is banana fruit. Pisang Bolens are available in bakery shop and quite easy to find them.

Pisang Bolen is made from pastry dough for the skin and the fillings are banana big slices, chocolate, and cheese in cube size put in the center of fillings. The pastry dough make the Pisang Bolen crispy and flaky at the same time in the inner layer. The fillings are amazingly good. It's not to sweet because the fillings are the combination of sweet banana & chocolate and it has cheesy flavour from the cheese! How perfect the taste is!

The bakery sells a box of banana chocolate and cheese pastry a.k.a Pisang Bolen for IDR 50K-80K (10 pieces). The price is around U$ 4-6 to get one box of Pisang Bolen. This prices depend on where you buy Pisang Bolen and maybe the ingredients which be used to make it. Pisang Bolen is my favourite snack. The taste is incredibly amazing. The smell of banana chocolate and cheese pastry is also so nice.

How do you think about Pisang Bolen? Have you tried this kind of snack in your region/country before? Please, leave you comments below to get me know your experience trying this unforgettable snack!

Keep reading on my foody blog! Thank you :)

My Mooi Organic Snack Review

Hello everyone! It's quite long time for me not to post about a review because I do community service as a compulsory programme in my university currently. I think that people nowadays more aware with their healthy so, organic foods and snack become a priority.

FYI, My Mooi is healthy snack in a plastic jar. The organic snacks are imported and mixed from many seeds like pumpkin seeds, nuts like almond slices, dried fruit like goji berries, raisins etc. I bought it in My Mooi (online shop). The seller is pretty good in serving the customers. They also pack and handle it with care.

I chose to buy 125 grams of My Mooi. It costs around IDR 120K (less than U$ 9) when I bought this one. There are so many mix raw inside the jar but the pumpkin seeds are dominant. Trying My Mooi Organic Snack also gives me new experince how the taste dried goji berry is. It's soury enough and plain as well! I couldn't define taste of goji berry. I love eating dried raisins and almond slices.

A jar of My Mooi Organic Snack in 125 grams can be eaten around 5 days for me because I love it so much. I won't be afraid of being fat, unhealthy because of eating snacks. It's organic so don't worry about your diet programme, eating this organic snacks at midnight for me. It also contains a lot of fibers, vitamins for your health. Although it's a little bit pricey than non organic snack, but it's so good for you tummy and body! I love all of My Mooi mix raw. It helps to prevent me from constipation! You may don't believe it unless you try it. I mean you buy it first haha.

East Asian Festival Foods Review

Hi everybody! How are you? Are you craving your favourite foods now? So do I. Today, I will share  to all of you about my experience trying East Asian Foods. Hmmm, sounds yummy, right? East Asian Festival usually be held annually by my campus. It was organized by CEARS (Center of Academic Research and Studies). Its focus is on East Asian Studies.

 Onigiri

In the East Asian Festival there is some performances like traditional dance, art performance from Korea, Japan and China. There is also unique facts about East Asian Countries. Interestingly, we can also play some games from East Asia countries, as an instance like Chinese chess. I was super lucky because I could try the foods :)

I bought onigiri which is rice stuffed with cooked meat and wrapped with nori (seaweed wrapper). It costs around IDR 6000 (U$ 0.4). It was so delicious and a little bit fishy. I really like eating rice with nori. It makes the foods more delicious.

Onigiri

Various Dimsums

There are also my favourite foods......It's dimsum (steamed dumpling) like shu mai, buns, kuotie etc. The seller sell them for one package. A package of 3 paos (steamed buns) is IDR 10K (U$ 0.8). The price for another dumpling is relatively same with a package of paos. What a cheap and tasty food! I chose to buy the shu mai because I love it so much.

Chocolate Ice

For the drink, I ordered chocolate is from Coffee Talk, a  coffee shop which has Korean coffee shop consept. The price for one glass of ice chocolate is IDR 8K-10K (U$ 0.6-0.8). I like tasting the ice chocolate, it used pure chocolate.

Takoyaki

I also bought Takoyaki, octopus balls with mayonnaise and tomato sauce and katsuobushi (bonito flakes). Super delicious foods of course! 4 octopus balls in Takoyaki is IDR 10K (U$ 0.8).

That's my review about East Asian Festival Foods.Thank you for reading it.

Allure Green Tea Latte Review

Allure Green Tea Latte Review

Hello everyone! I will share to you about matcha latte from Allure. Allure Matcha (green tea) latte is a harmonious blend of authentic matcha and creamy rich milk. It claims that you will taste heavenly green tea latte in every sip. Sounds great, right?

Allure Green Tea Latte

First time, I find the sedimentation in the bottom of bottle. It happens because Allure only uses real green tea powder. The ingredients are water, non dairy creamer, sugar, skimmed milk powder, matcha powder, stabilizer, vegetable emulsifier, acidity regulator Hydrogen Carbonate.

Bought this one for IDR 9000 (U$ 0.7). One bottle of green tea latte has netto around 330 ml. I think it's quite affordable for Indonesian beverage price. The taste is a combination of milk and matcha. It has sweet taste and a little bit bitter from green tea powder. For the matcha lover like me, it's one of the most favourite drinks. I would like to recommend this one for who like drinking matcha latte which is not too sweet. The taste is very balanced.

I think it's a big progress from Allure because we don't need to make it by ourself whether in hot or cold matcha latte. The new Allure green tea latte is a ready-to-drink beverage. The colour of Allure Green Tea Latte looks like greeny and browny milk. Because they use only real matcha powder so, the greeny/light brown colour is natural from the real matcha itself.

Would I buy this again? Sure XD

See you on my another reviews :)

Unfried Chicken Spring Roll?

Unfried Chicken Spring Roll Review

Hi guys! Today, I would love to share to you about food. Can you guess it? Haha, I just typed it as a title actually. Okay, I must admit to all of you that I really like eating savoury and spicy foods or snacks. Are you same with me? XD

Spring roll become one of my favourite foods list. I usually like eating the fried version, but a couple days ago I could try the unfried one! Less oil of course!

Unfried Spring Roll

It has soft texture because it's not fried. The difference between the fried and unfried spring roll is on the crispness. The fried one is crunchy and oily as well. The filling made from minced chicken, with vegetables like carrot, corn. There is spring onion stalk too as a complement to the unfried spring rolls. Sauce for dipping unfried spring roll is made from steamed and fermented soy bean. In Indonesia, it's known as saus tauco. The Tauco has unique, strong taste and a little bit spicy.

As you can see, the Tauco sauce is dark sauce in small plastic (in the right side) inside the wrapper. Buy this unfried spring roll in Probolinggo (one of East Java cities, 100 km away from Surabaya). The price is maybe around IDR 4000-5000 (U$ 0.4) for one unfried spring roll.

That's the filling of unfried spring roll. So many filling inside! The filling taste is pretty good and it's better to eat this one by dipping in the Tauco sauce. I would recommend this unfried spring roll to you who have diet or want to eat less oil foods. Okay, this is my review about  unfried spring roll.

See you guys on my next review!

Wasabi Kitkat Review

Wasabi Kitkat Review

Hello everyone! How are you? I hope you always be fine :) Yeah, today I will make a review about Kitkat again (Kitkat lover detected XD) I got Wasabi Kitkat flavor for free! Thank you so much for my bf's brother who bring this one! I must be thankful for this amazing and unique snack.

Wasabi Kitkat

I didn't know Wasabi Kitkat's price because it is free snack. So, I don't have any clue. My bf's brother bought this Kitkat when he was in Japan. I really like this packaging because it's fulled of greeny Wasabi, white colour and Kitkat brand in the middle. Don't know why I'm so in love with green and white packaging.

Wasabi and Pumpkin Pudding Kitkat

In one box of Wasabi Kitkat, there are 12 minis. Wasabi Kitkat has light green colour, since it's mixed with white chocolate. I'm unsure at first time about how the taste will be. I hadn't tasted Wasabi yet before in the foods. Got information that Wasabi usually used as spice in Japanese foods. Wasabi also be known as Japanese horseradish. Wasabi will give hot sensation to the foods. I guessed that Kitkat Wasabi has strong pungency or hot sensation when I ate it. I am so wrong!

It's sweet and minty. Don't feel hot sensation on my tongue. I think the sweetness comes from the white chocolate and Wasabi in this Kitkat only make minty sensation. So, if you are curious about Kitkat Wasabi taste, you can order them on online shop. It's rare enough because it's seasonal Kitkat flavour.

Hope you enjoy reading my review about the Wasabi Kitkat! :)

Beef Black Savoury Indonesian Soup (Rawon)

Beef Black Savoury Indonesian Soup (Rawon) Review

Hi to all of my beloved blog readers! Today, I'm gonna share to you about one of Indonesian soups. Okay, I will do a review and my mouth can't stop watering now haha. Indonesia has many various soups depend on the region. I was so lucky because I could try Beef Black Savoury Soup known as Rawon in Indonesia.

So, that is the photo inside of Rawon Restaurant. I had a super lucky chance to try Rawon owned by Gunawan family. Thank you so much dear for bringing me there!

As I mentioned before, this Rawon stall is fulled by vintage things. There are old bicycle, candles, big glass jar, and another vintage stuffs. They also sell oleh-oleh (gift brought back from a trip) special from some East Java Province cities.

The stall (rumah makan) is owned by Gunawan (Kho Gwan Ling), a Chinese-Indonesian. This Rawon stall located on Jalan Dr. Sutomo No. 2 Probolinggo. If you were in Probolinggo, you could go to the Bromo Mountain too, which is one of popular tourist destinations. I think it's popular Rawon so if you ask people there where is Rawon Gunawan, they will give you an answer :)

Gunawan family also sell Soto soup, Gado-Gado (Indonesian Salad with Spicy Peanut Sauce and boiled egg). The price for Rawon ranges from IDR 10.000-30.000 (U$ 1-3) depends or your side dish.

Rawon

I ordered Rawon in half portion. You can see that Rawon has black colour because of Keluak (black nuts) and another spices like garlic, ginger, shallot, turmeric, red chillies etc. It usually served with rice, baby bean sprout, chilli sambals, garlic or shrimp crackers, salted preserved egg too.

Side Dishes and Sambals

I really like Rawon taste, it has strong nutty and spicy flavor. You can order it along with fried Tempe, fried beef. You can buy tasty Rawon in East Java cities like Surabaya, Probolinggo.

Garlic Crackers

I think this is one of the best foods that I have ever tried. It's so affordable and delicious. Will  I go back to buy Rawon? Definitely YES!

This is my review about Beef Black Savoury Indonesian Soup a.k.a Rawon. Hope you enjoy reading my review. See you!

Kue Putu-Indonesian Traditional Snack

Kue Putu-Indonesian Traditional Snack Review

Hello! I come back to give another review but today I will share about one kind of Indonesian traditional snack called Kue Putu. If you have a chance to visit Indonesia, don't forget to try Kue Putu because it is so ubiquitous and surely cheap. You will find them in small cities or villages. Nowadays, the sellers ride a bicycle. Have you tried Kue Putu? Let me know your opinions about its taste.

Kue Putu is steamed rice flour dough stuffed with brown sugar and then added with coconut and sugar powder. The taste is sweet enough and it reminds me with all of my childhood memories. I only need to pay IDR 10K (U$ 0.7) for 10 pieces of Kue Putu. So cheap of course!

Kue Putu also has nice fragrant comes from the traditional method in cooking rice flour dough. The rice flour dough is put inside the bamboo tubes and then steamed for 2-3 minutes. You will miss the taste because the taste is so balanced, the rice flour steamed cake is a little bit salty and plain sometimes and the brown and powder sugar give sweetness inside and outside of Kue Putu.

I'm going to buy when I know Kue Putu's seller near my house. That's my review. I hope you would like to share your traditional or lokal snacks to me! Have a nice day!

Review Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding

Nestle Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding

Hi everybody! How was your day? I had tried Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding so, that's why I will share about my review to all of you guys :) I got Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding on an online shop because I couldn't find it on supermarkets, minimarkets. Nestle actually produces many flavours of Kitkat but in Indonesia, I only can buy the chocolate one and suprisingly there is new variant of green tea Kitkat in minimarkets now. What a happy news!  Beside trying the Pumpkin Pudding flavour, I also tried the Wasabi flavour too. I will review it soon :)

This Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding is made in Japan. There are 13 Pumpkin Pudding minis. I'm really in love with the packaging. It's so cute and halloween pumpkin theme I guess. I bought this for IDR 70K (U$5). This Pumpkin Pudding is too pricey here. FYI, Kitkat is 2 fingers wafer coated with chocolate.

Every mini of Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding consist of 2 fingers chocolate wafer. I think this Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding is slightly sweet (good point). Although it has Pumpkin Pudding flavour, the white chocolate taste is stronger than the Pudding one. I still like eating Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding because it's not as sweet as the chocolate taste. The colour of Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding is light yellow. I guess it's because of the combination from white chocolate and pumkpin pudding.

Will give this Kitkat Pumpkin Pudding 2 thumbs up for the great taste. See you on another review from me!

Delfi Assortment Milk Chocolate Review

 Delfi Assortment Milk Chocolate

Hello everyone! Today, I wanna share to you what kind of chocolate that I had tried it out. Yeah, I will give a review about Delfi Assortment Milk Chocolate! I think each of you has known perfectly about  Delfi. It is one of the biggest chocolate companies in the world. I decided to buy Delfi Assortment Milk Chocolate because it's so irresistible chocolate. There are 3 different fillings in the milk chocolate balls. A pack of Delfi Assortment Milk Chocolate consists of raisin, almond and cashew fillings.

The packaging is dominated by red, white, yellow and chocolate colour of course! It also represents how the milk chocolates looks inside the pack of Delfi Assortment Milk Chocolate. The netto of milk chocolate is 50 grams. I bought this in supermarket when I was at my hometown. The price is relatively affordable, I had to pay IDR 7500 (U$ 0.5) or less than 1 US Dollar guys.

The chasew milk chocolate is the biggest one in size, the almond is bigger than the raisin one. Unfortunately, there are many raisin fillings in one pack (I love eating raisin too actually). I think the chasew filling is only 1 or 2 milk chocolates per pack.

I really like eating milk chocolate in oval shape because of its uniqueness haha. The taste of Delfi Asssortment Milk Chocolate is not too sweet. It also melted in my mouth smoothly. I very like the milky and nutty taste from cashew and almond fillings. I definitely will buy this one when I have another chance to go to the supermarket again.

Okay, I think my review is enough. If you have questions, suggestions, critics or whatever regarding to snacks, traditional snacks, foods please write your comments below :)
